About
Cologne. Music. Always.
The beginning
Cologne. Music. Always.
Nicolas Wehmeyer grew up in Cologne — a city known for its thriving electronic music scene just as much as its cathedral. He picked up his first acoustic guitar at age three, a gift from his father. A keyboard followed three years later. The question was never whether music would play a role in his life, only which one.
By fourteen, he was performing as a guitarist and vocalist in his first band. More projects followed, different genres, different stages. Hip-hop, rock, metal, indie — Nicolas worked his way through pretty much everything before electronic music pulled him in for good in the mid-2000s.

The club scene
Pulled into the deep end
Through people around him who were deep into sound engineering and DJing, Nicolas was drawn further and further into the world of electronic music. Clubs like Nachtflug and Bootshaus in Cologne became something of a second home. It was DJs like Cologne’s own Arndt van Lendt — whose sets at Bootshaus remain unforgettable — who gave the final push. Soon after, the first turntables stood in his apartment, and the first gigs followed quickly.
Two paths
Two worlds, one drive
What many don’t know: alongside music, Nicolas was already taking apart his mother’s first computer as a kid — and putting it back together. A few screws were left over, but the thing ran. For over 15 years now, he has been working professionally in the tech industry, with experience spanning software development, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. Today, he runs CyCure, his own IT company.
What seems like an odd combination makes perfect sense up close. The same perfectionism that won’t let a bug slip through code ensures that every set lands. And when tech fails during a gig, Nicolas is the one who has it fixed in three minutes while everyone else is still looking for the promoter.
The duo
Nick Waves & Pablo Perez
In 2021, his path crossed with Pablo Perez — by chance, on the way to a club in Cologne. One night turned into a friendship, the friendship into a DJ duo. Since then, the two have been performing together as Nick Waves & Pablo Perez, sharing the same conviction: good music doesn’t need compromise.
Together, they founded the event series ALMOST HOLY in Cologne, regularly play the city’s biggest clubs, and produce YouTube mixes that reach well beyond the Cologne area.
“Music and code — both quiet my mind and bring me back to balance. When I’m not behind the decks or working on a track, I’m writing software, picking up the guitar, or riding my skateboard. Standing still was never my thing.”
